Second Collection of 5 ideas for designing Green Week @ Work 2025

In the first part of our Green Week @ Work 2025 series, we shared five ideas to help kick-start your green initiatives. Building on the success of our 2024 Green Week activities, we’re continuing our tradition into 2025 with five more engaging ideas. From interactive challenges to collaborative projects, these activities will ensure your team remains excited, motivated, and committed to sustainability.

This Year’s Second 5 Ideas:

6. Digital Declutter Day: Raise awareness about the environmental impact of digital storage by hosting a "declutter day." Encourage employees to delete unnecessary emails, files, and apps, which can reduce energy use in data centres. Provide a checklist for decluttering and tips for maintaining a tidy digital workspace. Celebrate the collective impact by sharing fun stats, like how many gigabytes were cleared.

7. Virtual Green Talk Series: Invite sustainability experts to give short, impactful talks on topics like climate action, circular economy practices, or biodiversity conservation. These talks can be live-streamed to ensure remote employees can participate. Record the sessions so employees can revisit them or share with others. The talks can spark new ideas and inspire actions across the organisation. Colectivo can help coordinate and facilitate these sessions, connecting you with expert speakers and ensuring a seamless experience.

8. Green Week Hackathon: Organise a one-day or week-long hackathon where employees form teams to tackle sustainability challenges within the organisation or community. For example, teams could brainstorm ways to reduce waste, improve energy efficiency, or support local green initiatives. Provide resources and mentorship, and offer recognition or support to implement the best ideas.

9. BYO Mug & Bottle Week: Promote a week-long initiative encouraging employees to bring their own reusable mugs and water bottles to work. Reduce disposable cup and bottle use by setting up hydration stations and offering discounts or incentives at on-site cafes. Recognise participants with a raffle or small rewards, and share the collective waste avoided during the week.

10. Green Gratitude Wall: Set up a physical or virtual wall where employees can share their gratitude for nature or sustainability efforts. Examples could include appreciating a colleague for starting a carpool group, celebrating a team’s waste-reduction efforts, or highlighting eco-friendly practices in the workplace. End Green Week by compiling these notes into a story or visual display to inspire ongoing efforts.

With these 10 ideas in hand, your Green Week @ Work 2025 is sure to be a standout event. Remember, the key to success is participation, so make these activities accessible and fun for everyone. Check out our upcoming LinkedIn blog for a recap of all 10 ideas, and don’t hesitate to reach out for further support in making your Green Week a success. Continuing the Green Week tradition is an exciting opportunity to inspire action and keep sustainability top of mind in the workplace!
