Andrew PW McCarthy is a designer, consultant, and educator specialising in innovation, customer experience, creativity, strategy, circularity, and human-centred design. Originally from New York City and now based in Madrid, he works internationally with universities, organisations, and teams to design learning experiences, guide innovation processes, and help create more impactful, customer-centred solutions.
His work spans multiple industries and sectors, bringing together philosophy, design, systems thinking, sustainability, culture, and entrepreneurship. Andrew is an Adjunct Professor at IE University, Trinity College Dublin, and other institutions, where he teaches design, creativity, innovation processes, circular design for sustainability, customer experience, strategy, and entrepreneurship.
At IE Business School, Andrew is the founding Academic Director of the Master in Customer Experience and Innovation, as well as the Subject Matter Lead for Creativity. He has received numerous nominations and awards for Best Professor and Favourite Professor, along with more than fifty IE Prizes for Teaching Excellence. Beyond his academic and consulting work, Andrew speaks and moderates at events, practises improv, plays music, and brings creativity into everything from classrooms and boardrooms to voice work and storytelling.
